What is a webhook?

By LeadFormHub Editorial Team ·

A webhook is an automatic message your form tool sends to a URL you choose when something happens, such as a new lead. The message carries the lead’s fields so another system can create a record. It is not a built-in connector to a named CRM. You provide the address, and the form tool sends the lead.

Why it matters

Exporting a file is enough when a person will import it. A webhook is the path when another system should receive the lead as it is created, without someone downloading a spreadsheet.

Example

Illustrative example. You give the form an HTTPS address. When a visitor submits, the tool POSTs that lead to the address. The receiving system creates a row with the name, email, and source. You send one test lead and check the row before a campaign depends on it. This describes the handoff. It is not a promise about a specific CRM. A failed test is a mapping problem to fix before traffic starts.

How to measure or apply it

Map each form field to a field on the receiving side. Submit one test lead. Confirm the values landed, including the source. Watch for duplicates and for a failed delivery you can see. Fix the mapping before you send traffic, and keep a person responsible for the receiving end.

In LeadFormHub

Outbound webhooks are on the Business plan only. CSV and XLSX export are on every plan, including Free. LeadFormHub does not ship a native HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, or Pipedrive connector, and it does not have a Zapier or Make app or a public customer API.
