A visit form for homes and small businesses asking about an installation.
Solar Installation Enquiry Form: Fields, Questions and Follow-Up
By LeadFormHub Editorial Team ·
Quick Answer
What should a solar installation enquiry form ask?
Ask who they are, how to reach them, whether the property is a home or a business, and when they want a visit. Ownership can be a single checkbox. City, bill band, and roof shape can share a note. Do not promise a saving or a system size on the form.
What an installer needs before booking a roof visit
A solar enquiry is a decision to visit or not. You need a name, a phone, an email, the property type, and a timing. Ownership matters because a tenant may not be able to approve a roof. Bill size and roof shape help the visit. They are not a calculation, and this page does not estimate a bill change.
People often want a yes or no on whether you serve their area. Collect the city or postcode in the note. There is no map lookup. If the ad says request a visit, the button should say that. Do not claim the form will calculate units or payback.
Questions that decide whether to visit
Property type and timing decide the queue. Put property type in the dropdown: home, business, or other. Put timing in the radio group: this month, this quarter, or just exploring. Ownership is a single checkbox, I own this property, because a checkbox is one yes or no and a second radio group is not available. Renters can leave it unticked.
Monthly bill is a range you choose for your market, plus not sure yet. Do not publish it as a saving or a system size. Roof type is flat, sloped, or not sure. Both go in the textarea with the city, because the dropdown and the radio are already used. Source from the link is stored on every plan.
- Property type. Home, business, other. The dropdown. Home and business visits are staffed differently.
- Timeline. This month, this quarter, just exploring. The radio group. This month is the first call.
- Ownership. I own this property, or leave unticked. The checkbox. Unticked is not a rejection.
- Roof. Flat, sloped, not sure. In the textarea. Adjust nothing into a performance claim.
- Monthly bill. A low band, a middle band, a high band, and not sure yet. Bands you choose for your market. Not a saving and not a system size.
How to build the form with one of each field type
Add fields by tapping a type. Each type can be added once. The arrows reorder them. There is no solar template and no drag-and-drop on the builder. Name is text. Mobile is phone. Email is email. Property type is the dropdown. Timing is the radio group. Ownership is the checkbox. City, bill band, and roof share the textarea.
Do not make the checkbox required. A tenant should still be able to submit. Required fits name, mobile, email, property type, and timing. You cannot keep bill band and property type as two dropdowns.
| Field | Type | Required | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | Yes | Who asked for the visit. |
| Mobile | Phone | Yes | The number the coordinator will call. |
| Yes | The written reply and the automatic note. | ||
| Property type | Dropdown | Yes | Home, business, or other. |
| Timeline | Radio | Yes | This month, this quarter, or just exploring. |
| I own this property | Checkbox | No | One yes or no. Leave it optional so a tenant can still write. |
| City, bill band, roof | Textarea | No | City or postcode, a bill range you set, and flat, sloped, or not sure. Adjust ranges to your market. Not a savings estimate. |
| How you heard about us | Stored on the lead | No | UTM, referrer, and landing page are kept on every plan. |
What the coordinator does with a new enquiry
Open the lead and read property type, timing, and ownership, then set a status, a note, and a follow-up date. That record is on every plan. A homeowner who wants a visit this month is the first call. On Pro and Business the account can get an email alert and use the Kanban board. Nothing scores the lead.
If you do not serve the area, set the status and the note the same day. Free is 3 forms and 50 leads a month. Pro and Business have no monthly lead cap. CSV and XLSX export work on every plan. A webhook is Business only. There is no native CRM connector.
A reply the household can receive
Pro and Business can email the lead when the form is submitted. This form asks for an email, so the rule has somewhere to send. Use the sample as the body and {{name}} for the name. The message confirms the enquiry. It does not mention savings, system size, or a visit you have not agreed.
The alert to your own inbox is separate. That is the email alert on Pro and Business. The sample is only the note the household sees. If you do not want an automatic note, skip the rule and reply yourself from the lead. The follow-up date still belongs on the row so the visit is not forgotten.
Hi {{name}},
Thanks for the property details. We will look at whether you own the site and when you want a visit, then contact you on the mobile number or this email.
This note confirms the form arrived. It does not estimate a system size or a change in your bill.Checking the number you will call for the visit
SMS OTP fits an India mobile number you will call for the visit. Email OTP fits the inbox and works worldwide. Pick one if you want a single extra step. Both are off the free plan and share one monthly quota. The site survey is still a human job.
SMS OTP supports India mobile numbers; email OTP works worldwide. OTP is not on the free plan. Pro includes 100 verifications a month and Business includes 1000. Email and SMS codes share that quota.
Put the reason in the label. Mobile for the coordinator. Email for the written reply. reCAPTCHA v3 blocks some scripts. It does not prove the roof exists. OTP checks that the person controls the contact.
Publishing the installation form
Add the fields. Set home, business, and other on the dropdown, and this month, this quarter, and just exploring on the radio. Write the checkbox as I own this property. Put city, bill bands, and roof shape in the textarea label. Reorder with the arrows. There is no template step.
Send yourself a test from a phone, including an unticked checkbox and a not sure roof. Open the lead and confirm you can tell a homeowner-this-month from a renter-just-exploring. Share the link or the iframe only after that test. Check the stored UTM values if the link is going on an ad.

Common questions
These answers cover the field limits, the missing template, and how verification and the reply behave on this form. The options above are a starting list. Adjust the names and the ranges to your own local market before you publish.
No. Do not put a saving, a payback, or a system size in the form or in the automatic reply. The fields only help you decide whether to visit.
No. There is one dropdown. Use it for home, business, or other. Put the bill band and the roof shape in the textarea, with a not sure option.
No. Add each field by type and reorder with the arrows. This page is a guide, not a template inside the product.
They leave the ownership checkbox unticked and can still submit. You read that on the lead and decide whether a visit makes sense. The form does not block them.
