What is email OTP?

By LeadFormHub Editorial Team ·

Email OTP is a one-time code sent to the email address a visitor typed, which they must enter before the lead is saved. It checks that the person can open that inbox. It does not check whether they are a good customer, and it does not run on every form unless you turn it on.

Why it matters

A typed email can look valid and still be a throwaway address nobody reads. Email OTP removes those rows before a person writes a follow-up, which matters most when the offer is a demo, a quote, or a callback.

Example

Illustrative example. A visitor types name and work email on a demo form. The form sends a short code to that inbox, and the lead is saved only after the visitor enters the code. If they cannot open the inbox, you do not get a row to call. These steps show the mechanism. They are not a result from a campaign.

How to measure or apply it

Turn email OTP on for forms where a bad email is expensive, and leave it off for a short newsletter signup. Count how many people request a code and how many finish. A lower finish count can still be a better queue if the saved emails are ones you can write to. Compare that with the same form before the code, over the same kind of traffic.

In LeadFormHub

SMS OTP supports India mobile numbers; email OTP works worldwide. OTP is not on the free plan. Pro includes 100 verifications a month and Business includes 1000. Both email and SMS codes share that monthly quota.
