What is OTP verification?

By LeadFormHub Editorial Team ·

OTP verification sends a one-time code to the email or phone number on the form and saves the lead only after the visitor enters that code. OTP means one-time password. The check proves the person can open that inbox or, for an India mobile number, receive that SMS. It does not prove they will buy.

Why it matters

Format checks only look at the shape of the contact. A code proves control of it, so a fake or mistyped detail is less likely to reach the queue when a bad contact would cost a call.

Example

Illustrative example. Someone requests a callback and enters a mobile number. The form sends a code by SMS, they type the code, and the lead appears in the table. If they never enter the code, you do not get a lead to dial. A newsletter form can skip this step. The story shows the sequence, not a change in results.

How to measure or apply it

Turn OTP on per form, not for the whole account. Use it on demos, quotes, and callbacks. Leave it off when a wrong email is cheap to ignore. Watch how many people finish the code step, and keep the offer the same when you compare a week with OTP to a week without it. Read the saved leads, not only the people who stopped at the code.

In LeadFormHub

SMS OTP supports India mobile numbers; email OTP works worldwide. OTP is not on the free plan. Pro includes 100 verifications a month and Business includes 1000. Both email and SMS codes share that monthly quota.
